Plan A
Dear Lovely, 🌸
“What is plan B?” – She asked.
“There is no plan B.” – I responded with a flat voice and dropped the box with a bang on the floor.
“In case plan A doesn’t work.” – She made herself clear. – “What is plan B?”
“There is no plan B.” – I repeated emphatically. – “B, C, D or F - there is no other possibility. Plan A always works out for me. ”
“But how?” - She looked at me uncomprehendingly.
“Look, Lovely, let’s say you have a terrible stomachache. Extremely terrible stomachache. You are in unbearable pain. Your body is shaking convulsively. You need something to dull the pain. You WANT it so badly. You turn your home upside down, but there is no sign of any medicines or painkillers. You drive to the pharmacy, two blocks away from your house, but it is currently closed. At this point, you are barely standing on your feet from cramps. What do you do?”
“I drive to the next nearest pharmacy.” – She said.
“Exactly! At that moment, standing in the empty parking lot, next to your car, in agony, you don’t think about what’s going to happen next if you don’t get rid of the pain. You don’t make peace with your situation and imagine your life with a constant stomachache. There isn’t “this” or “that”. You have a problem - a stomachache - and there is only one plan, one goal, one desire - to stop the pain. Your brain keeps looking for solutions, for ways to achieve the goal, for ways to execute plan A.”
I like to think about it this way:
What is possible?
I always get crystal clear on WHAT I want and WHY – a very specific goal. When something is important enough, we always find a way to get it. Clarity is power.
How can I achieve my goal?
I turn on my creativity and determination and take action until I achieve my goal. There is ONE outcome possible – achieving my goal. There is no plan B. “If I don’t achieve X, I will do Y instead” doesn’t exist in my dictionary. I don’t compromise my dreams. I don’t leave everything to chance. There might be different ways to get what I want and I train my brain to find solutions instead of excuses.
We waste so much time worrying, thinking, wondering, imagining, and obsessing about everything - it steals the joy out of our lives. When all we need is a little bit of faith and a little more patience.
“If you believe it will work out, you will see opportunities.
If you believe it won’t, you will see obstacles. ”
Look carefully back at your life, Lovely, and you will see that ultimately everything always ends up working out in your favor.
Love,
Vanya 🍀
